Central America - Food Insecurity
• Guatemala - a food insecure population of 1 to 2.49 million people from February until next main harvest in August 2016.
• Honduras, many poor households will have very limited maize reserves after the 2015 drought and will be facing a food crisis by March.
• El Salvador & Nicaragua - the number of people affected is lower but still of concern with critical numbers being reached from March 2016.

CAR - Violence
• Violence erupted on 26 September has caused around 30 deaths and more than 100 casualties.
• Looting of several NGO offices has taken place during the last nights.
• About 27,000 people have been displaced. OCHA estimates that more than 10,000 have sought temporary refuge in the Mpoko site close to the airport.

China - Drought
• A total of 3.6 million people have been affected, with more than one million people at high risk.
• It has not been this dry in 54-years.
• Local authorities allocated EUR 4.19 million for drought relief and are digging wells as well as making cloud seeding efforts.

Tropical Cyclone DUJUAN
• TC DUJUAN made landfall in northeastern Taiwan in the morning of 28 September (UTC), as a very strong Typhoon.
• It weakened while crossing Taiwan and reached China around 0.50 UTC, 29 September, still as a Typhoon but weakened.
• In Taiwan, media report three dead and more than 300 people injured, nearly 370,000 households affected by power outages.

Nigeria - Violence
• At least 20 people were killed on 27 September after suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked Malari village in Borno State.
• Over 24 others were wounded while escaping the attackers.
• People are fleeing towards Maiduguri, adding to the 1.6 million IDPs in the city.

South Sudan - Violence
• Abduction, enslavement, systematic rape as well as escalation of fighting and other savage human rights abuses have been reported mainly by government forces, and associated militias.

Southeast Asia - Drought
• Some parts of Indonesia have not had rain for six months.
• Dry weather conditions are also affecting many oil palm plantations in Malaysia.
• Pollution from fires caused by the drought has affected several Indonesian islands as well as Malaysia and Singapore.
• Schools had to close for this reason.

Pacific - Drought
• The Fiji Government estimates that more than 67,000 people are now affected by El Nino related drought.
• Provinces of Vanuatu are affected by drought and the recent cyclone.
• Emergency food and water distributions will reach the region soon.
